After breakfast, Kiel refused to walk back so instead we took a tricycle back to the hotel. When we got back our room was ready, and we changed to our swimsuit and enjoyed the beauty of Boracay. Kiel loved it and now had a first hand experience of the powdery sand I kept talking to her about. She was like a child playing with it and mesmerized by its texture.
We had several water activities planned but when we left Manila a storm was brewing. So we decided to do all the activities on the first day since we do not know how the weather was going to be the next day.
We were lucky to have met "Jake" at True Homes and he arranged all the water sports booking for us. The total cost was P3,600 but that included the Parasailing Adventure, Helmet Diving and Paraw Sailing.
This was not my first parasailing adventure but it was Kiel's. What made this one different was the strong winds we encountered that day not to mention this was really the "habagat" season of Boracay. So the adventure was scary as compared to the first time I experienced it.
After the parasailing activity we went directly to the helmet diving. I was very reluctant due to fear of the fishes as well as the depth of the water. Kiel kept encouraging me that we were getting old and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we may never get the chance to do something like this again. Knowing she was going to be under water with me, I decided to go. I would say, it was one of the best decisions I made. It was so fun to be underwater and get to see the fishes in their habitat. It was scary in the beginning due to the unknown but the divers who were around you all the time help ease my fear and when I saw Kiel's face gleaming I started to relax.
After our activities, we went back to the hotel and we decided to go out for lunch though this was kinda late in the afternoon. When we got back we saw several missed calls from home. When Kiel called our kasambahay was worried about Sweetie because she has been panting. We advised them on what to do and left for lunch. We asked the tricycle driver to drop us at the nearest eskenita to get to "Pamana". We were dropped off at the eskenita called 24/7. The flooring was made of bricks and most of it were so uneven. I was worried about Sweetie because of how Peanut died. I was scared that Sweetie was actually sick that we just did not notice because of our excitement. I was thinking of her while walking and was not focused on the floor. Boom, I feel and hit my head. It took me awhile to get up because I felt dizzy and my knee hurt so bad. After awhile, we were able to ease our way through Pamana.
Pamana is one of our favorite restaurant and we normally go to their branch in Tagaytay. We ordered "kare-kare" and their "seafood medley". Kiel had their pandan/ginger drink and I had coke zero. As always, Pamana did not fail us. The food was great and we really enjoyed it. While seated, Kiel noticed the group of "masseuse" . Kiel knew I have been complaining about my back and wanted me to have a massage specially because of the recent fall. She spoke to them and advised them I just had surgery and they need to handle me with care. We stood up to go back to the hotel and I realized, I could not walk. My ankles were all of a sudden swollen. With so much pain, we were able to make it to the end of the eskenita to get a tricyle.
Once at the hotel, I took a shower and laid down to have my massage. I feel asleep since I only had about 1 hour sleep the night before. I woke up shouting in pain because the masseuse was trying to work on my foot. They wrapped my ankle but when they left I begged Kiel to remove it because it was so painful. We went out to the veranda, and decided to call my Ortho. As prescribed, I need to ice the ankle and take either Arcoxia or Celecoxib. Luckily, I had arcoxia with me as prescribed by my OB for my surgery in case I feel pain due to the trip. For dinner, since I was not able to walk we decided to try the famous "Churi Burger" and some shake from Jonas. We were also lucky that the cart for the churi burger was just beside us and Jonas was also next to us. We asked one of the Kuya's from the hotel to get it for us and with no questions asked he did. My ankle was now on ice and after eating the burger I took arcoxia and at the same time flanax. One of the ate's run to Bulabog to get some leaves to place on my bulging ankles. Her daughter wrapped it together with the leaves and the stem. We elevated my foot and slept.
This trip was a gift from my daughter's Lysa and Kim together with their respective partners Mike and Anthony for my 50th birthday. The original plan was to schedule it on the day of my birthday which was August 10 but due to an emergency surgery in July we had no choice but to move it in September.
My children are all aware how much I love Boracay having been there in 2005 and 2006. What made this trip more wonderful was the fact that this will be my baby's first Boracay trip.
Kiel and I could not wait for September to arrive. There were a lot of events that happened from July to August. I went through D&C on the 5th of July and 10 days after a surgery was recommended because my bleeding did not stop. July 24th, I was confined and a successful surgery was performed on the 25th.
To save up for our Boracay trip, Kiel and I worked on selling our leche flans. With the help of my daughter Kim and her partner Anthony we were able to sell and the proceeds went towards our savings. Lysa and Kim took care of our airline fare and hotel accommodations but for the spending spree while in Bora was on us. On August 22, our dearest pet "Peanut" died and all our savings went towards her hospitalization. On the same day, Kiel met an accident due to the pain caused by Peanut's passing. On August 28, after finishing our cheesecakes for selling to start saving again for our Bora trip our "kasambahay" left. For a week, it was Kiel and I who took care of all the household chores. I was limited in my movements due to my recent major surgery and since Kiel was just in an accident she was also limited in here movements. Kiel's wounds got very infected and the chores did not help her. Thank God our new "kasam bahay" arrived first week of September.
On top of these personal concerns, we were also going through a lot of change in our work life. The account we were in decided to shut operations down in response to the recent elections in the USA. Kiel had to go through profiling to see on which account she can be assigned. I on the other hand don't know what to expect once I come back from my "magna carta" leave.
You can just imagine, how much more excited we were to go to Bora. We badly needed this escape after going through a very challenging July and August.
