KIMBERLY AIDYL LAO, daughter
Anyone who knows my mom or has just swept through this site can say without a shadow of a doubt that she can never be put into a cookie-cutter mold of one thing. The facets of the woman that is my mother can be compared to a kaleidoscope. A personality of different shapes and colors that changes from every angle. A slight turn can reveal a completely different side of her that you never knew was there.
In my 21 years, I've seen the different sides of my mom. I've witnessed the highs and lows of her eventful life. She's told and shown me all of them through her stories, advice, comments, pictures and even in her transitions from one facial expression to another. The one thing that I noticed about her is that in all the roles she's played, in all the versions of her that she has been, the door has never been shut for all the other things she has yet to become. And knowing my mother, that door isn't just ajar, it's wide open.
With her tenacity and strength, I've always admired my mother's ability to rise up with her head held high right after she falls. She has always told me to never compromise what you deserve for what you can settle for. I see her live up to that every single day. As transparent as my mother is, you will never see the entirety of what she is going through because she always presents herself with grace, poise and dignity. She has always been proud of herself and her experiences whether they be good or bad because they only show her growth throughout the years.
So as difficult as it is to sum up all that my mother is into a few words, I managed to squeeze her into two: "endless possibility".
