My 3rd child Kimberly turned 25 years old this year. Oh my goodness I am really getting old.
Every year ever since she already started earning money from her work she has been treating me on her big day. This year, she took us to "YABU - HOUSE OF KATSU". She's been wanting to take me there for 2 years now.
The place looks ok (we went to the branch in SM Southmall). The menu of course consisted mostly of katsu. I ordered the one with mixed seafood and menchi, mommy ordered all seafood, Jr ordered the one that is all menchi, Chok explored the curry and my baby explored the danburi. Honestly, I don't remember what Kim ended up ordering since her first order was not available. I think it was close to the mechi stuff. Each order comes with a cabbage salad with no dressing but on each table comes with several condiments and you can create your own dressing. The wasabi one was awesome and the "goma" (I don't know if I spelled it correctly) was also good. Their chili oil is to die for and I asked Kim to search the universe for one because I want to have one for home. Chok loved his curry and I got the chance to taste it and indeed it was awesome and it was also awesomely hot. I did not get the chance to taste the one baby ordered but she said it was really good. As for the katsu, it all tasted the same for me since it was breaded exactly the same. Though the inside base was different. If I were to go back I will never order the menchi, I did not really like it but the cream dory was really good. The single shrimp I got was too hard. I also ordered a side of the crab katsu which was ok. Overall, it was okay. We all thought it was really "sulit" because each order was big and the sides are all unlimited (rice, salad, soup and fruits). So you will really end up "busog". I guess I am just not a fun of katsu that much but it was a great treat and the most important of all is I got to spend the day with family especially Kim and Jr since I do not see them that often. It was a beatiful day and it left a wonderful smile on my face.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY 3RD BORN BABY - KIMMY-- I LOVE YOU!
